Institution Overview

The Emei Shan Zhongfeng Martial Arts Research Institute was established on January 14, 2019, as a registered non-profit organization approved by the Emeishan Civil Affairs Bureau. Operating under the professional supervision of the Emeishan Bureau of Culture, Sports, Radio, Television, and Tourism, the Institute is driven by a core mission to honor the spirit of Chinese martial arts. We are deeply dedicated to the preservation, academic research, and global promotion of Emei Wushu, actively driving its cultural prosperity and development for future generations.

Geographic Location

The Institute’s official registered address is located at No. 5 Xingxi Road, Fuxi Town, Emeishan City, within the Leshan region of Sichuan Province, China. Our primary teaching, training, and event bases are strategically positioned at Zhongfeng Temple, the historic birthplace of Emei Wushu on Mount Emei. To further support our academic and physical transmission efforts, we also conduct heritage operations and instructional classes out of the dedicated Emei Sect Base situated in Luomu Town.

Core Institutional Functions

Cultural Preservation and Academic Research

The Institute serves as a vital repository for martial arts heritage by actively unearthing, organizing, and documenting ancient historical literature and the technical martial frameworks of Emei Wushu. Through structured academic research, we safeguard the authenticity of this ancient art form while developing modern educational materials.

Global Education and Cultural Exchange

To expand the reach of traditional Chinese culture, the Institute organizes high-level martial arts forums, international exchange projects, and public demonstrations. We provide professional, world-class training programs tailored for both domestic martial arts practitioners and international enthusiasts who travel to China to study our unique discipline.

Tourism and Industry Integration

We actively collaborate with regional hospitality partners to accelerate the integration of Emei Wushu with the local cultural tourism industry. By creating immersive cultural destinations and experiential travel products, the Institute transforms traditional martial heritage into a dynamic, modern economic asset.

Leadership and Lineage

Master Qiao Zhengquan's Background and Martial Philosophy

The Institute is led by its founder and legal representative, Master Qiao Zhengquan, a designated Emei Wushu Non-Physical Cultural Heritage Lineage Holder, a National First-Class Social Sports Instructor, and a member of the Emeishan CPPCC. Having trained under multiple legendary folk masters for more than 30 years, Master Qiao has distilled decades of physical mastery into a singular martial philosophy defined by strength tempered with flexibility, pause intertwined with rhythm, and stillness guiding agile movement.

Establishments, Milestones, and Global Impact

Master Qiao began his formal teaching journey in 1997 by establishing a martial arts school at Zhongfeng Temple, which eventually expanded into the Emei Shan Martial Arts Training Headquarters, the Emei Martial Arts Center in Germany, and the Emei Martial Arts Cultural Troupe. Over his career, he has won numerous national exchange competitions and showcased Emei Wushu on China Central Television’s flagship program, Same Song. To date, Master Qiao has trained tens of thousands of students and welcomed nearly 30,000 tourists, while over 200,000 enthusiasts from more than 50 countries have traveled to Mount Emei to experience his lineage.

Key Projects and Cultural Initiatives

"Emei Wushu Zhongfeng Source-Tracing" Showcases

In August 2024, the Institute successfully launched the inaugural “Emei Wushu Zhongfeng Source-Tracing” public showcase and officially unveiled its designated project base at Zhongfeng Temple. The landmark event put a spotlight on rare, traditional combat forms, featuring public demonstrations of Emei Boxing, Emei Power Boxing, Sifang Boxing, Double Whip, Green Forest Eyebrow-Height Staff, Double Swords, and the traditional Pu Knife.

The "Global Martial Arts Home" Joint Initiative

Embracing a vision of global community, the Institute acted as a co-founding organization alongside the Sichuan Daoshang Dao Emei Martial Arts Research Institute and over 20 sister institutions to launch the “Global Martial Arts Home” initiative. This collaborative project is designed to build an international network that champions the ancient wisdom of Chinese martial civilization and promotes martial arts as a shared health and wellness resource for the world.

The Annual Emei Martial Arts Development Forum

In August 2023, the Institute organized and hosted the “2023 Emei Martial Arts Development Forum,” centering the academic weekend around the theme of “The Current State and Future Trends of Emei Wushu.” The event served as a major intellectual hub, bringing together elite industry professionals, university researchers, and cultural scholars to exchange insights and construct sustainable business strategies for the martial arts industry.

Innovative Brands in Cultural Tourism

The Institute has successfully pioneered unique, multi-experiential cultural tourism brands, most notably “Discovering the Emei Sect” and the “Emei Lingzhi Valley.” Located directly at the historic Zhongfeng Temple, the “Discovering the Emei Sect” project operates as an immersive lifestyle destination where global travelers can step directly into the world of the Emei faction through interactive martial arts culture, food, and hospitality.

International Cross-Cultural Exchanges

Using martial arts as a universal language, the Institute frequently hosts specialized workshops and immersive cultural programs for global audiences. In recent years, we have designed custom martial arts introduction programs for over 150 international students from Sichuan University and have accepted formal invitations to travel abroad, establishing cultural exchange channels in countries like Germany to actively spread Emei Wushu worldwide.
